What is chautaugua airlines?

Chautauqua Airlines was a regional airline based in Indianapolis, Indiana, that operated as a subsidiary of Trans World Airlines (TWA) and later, American Airlines. The airline was founded in 1973 and began operations in 1974.

Chautauqua primarily operated regional flights on behalf of major airlines, such as TWA, United Airlines, and American Airlines. The airline operated a fleet of turboprop and regional jet aircraft, such as the Embraer ERJ-145 and Bombardier CRJ-200.

In 2004, Chautauqua Airlines was acquired by Republic Airways Holdings, which also owned other regional airlines like Republic Airlines and Shuttle America. The airline continued to operate under the Chautauqua name until it was rebranded as Shuttle America in 2014. Eventually, Shuttle America merged with ExpressJet Airlines to form the new brand, operating as United Express, Delta Connection, and American Eagle flights.
